Splitjaw to release new EP, share “Vigilance”

Splitjaw have announced that they will be releasing a new EP. It is called Truth and Reconciliation and will be out on August 7. The EP features four tracks and the first single, “Vigilance”, is available digitally now. The record was recorded by Marco Obaya and was mixed and mastered by Aki McCullough and James Goldman at Nu House Studios. Splitjaw released their debut EP Dread’s Comforting Embrace in 2024. Sweet Gloom: “Loudmouths”

Sweet Gloom have released a new song. It is called “Loudmouths” and was recorded during the sessions for their debut album Reverie which was released in 2023 via Asian Man Records. Sweet Gloom will be supporting Streetlight Manifesto on their show tonight in San Francisco, California at the Regency Ballroom along with their July 26 show in Portland, Oregon and their July 27 show in Seattle, Washington. The band will also be playing FEST in Gainesville, Florida in October. Check out the song below.

Laura Jane Grace responds to Paris Campbell Grace statement

Last week, Laura Jane Grace canceled the remainder of her tour dates with Murder by Death. this was prompted by accusations regarding LJG's behavior, posted publicly by her wife Paris Campbell Grace, who also performs in two of LJG's bands. Last night, Laura Jane Grace posted a response to Paris' accusations.

In the "text" portion of the response, LJG offers a brief statement "I would like to acknowledge my fault here and take responsibility for my mistakes. Anyone who has been paying attention can see clear as day that this has been a toxic, codependent relationship from the start. It was reckless of me to get married so quickly and I made a lot of poor decisions where I absolutely should have known better. My poor decisions have impacted my kid, my band and my community. I hold myself accountable for it and sincerely apologize."

Then, in the "picture" portion of the statement, LJG screenshots text of what appears to be a third party discussing the Laura Jane / Paris situation. At this time, LJG has not confirmed who the third party is. However, Paris identifies the person as Tiff of Rodeo Boys in a subsequent post.

Following LJG's statement, Paris then posted a follow up response (as well as identifying the author of LJG's post).

Selling out with Katie McTigue of Pacing

San Jose-based Pacing, the songwriting and recording project of Katie McTigue, is one day away from releasing her sophomore album Pl*net F*tness. In true Pacing fashion, the twelve tracks feature a mix of heart and humour, whether she is calling out the ridiculous subscription-canceling policies many companies employ on the title track, talking about dealing with depression on “Nothing! (I wanna do)”, or reworking a Mr. Rodgers song to be about a notorious cult leader on "Never Go Down". Themes of parasocial relationships, love, functioning under life’s obligations, loss, and looking for meaning pervade the album, buoyed by Pacing's signature blend of indie rock, bedroom pop, anti-folk, punk, and chess sounds. Selling out has never sounded so good.

Pl*net F*tness will be out on July 25 via Asian Man Records. You can pre-order the record here or here. Pacing will be touring the US supporting AJJ in August. They will be playing two Californian album release shows; one in late August in Los Angeles and one in early September in San Jose.
